Meddings drill tru manual9/22/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() tripped when the handwheel is turning clockwise and not tripped when the handwheel is turning counterclockwise"īy "turning", I take it you mean experiencing operator pressure in that direction? Hence my amazement that the B&S appears to be the only drilling machine on the planet that works this way, as it is so logical and simple and works so much better than having to set a definite depth stop for reversal or hitting a reverse button with hand or foot. In practice it works beautifully (I used one for years nearly everyday), and is especially handy in tapping situations where one needs to reverse frequently in the same hole to clear the chips as one decends into the hole. So really, it's more accurate to say it's tripped when the handwheel is turning clockwise and not tripped when the handwheel is turning counterclockwise. When in drilling mode it is still is tripped but not allow to go any further circuit wise.Īs I recall, the tapping related limit switch on the B&S is actually mounted inside of the quill handwheel housing. In other words this limit switch is always tripped when the quill is traveling upwards and but not tripped when the quill is traveling downwards. Click to expand. The Brown and Sharpe turret drill previously mentioned does this not via "quill pressure" but rather via a sensitive limit switch that reacts only when the spindle in use is in "tap" mode. ![]()
